Humanity At Heart International Association
is a registered Non Governmental Organization that was created in 2012 by Tata Mayaah Eveline together with a group of fellows who have been impacted by Cancer in one way or the other and are now determined to help others live better lives to avoid early deaths and sufferings resulting from cancer especially as they aged. This organization is a cancer prevention and advocacy center that advocates for an effective cervical and breast cancer response through prevention, early detection and access to timely treatment, promoting healthy living and helping people maintain a balance on the eight dimensions of wellness: the financial, physical, emotional, spiritual, social, environmental, vocational, and intellectual wellbeing.
Since its creation, we have been able to develop and carry out a series of programs and activities such as the “walk for health” which has helped more than 90 families battling cancer to exercise through walking, with another 210 cancer patients, survivors, oncology nurses and social workers through retreats and seminars, where they rekindle their spirits and learned ways they can give back to others in need in their own communities. The “Know your Cervix” program organized every January during the cervical cancer awareness month which seeks to create awareness on cervical cancer and the ‘PINK October’ which seeks to create awareness on breast cancer prevention, early detection and treatment every October. Then we also assist cancer patients and survivors from throughout the country through the ‘Life Beyond Cancer’ program every June. The organization works in collaboration with various non-profits, communities and faith-based organizations to bring cancer prevention and early detection programs to communities throughout the nation Cameroon. We also empower them with skills and training to be auto employed. This requires an understanding of the impact of cancer, how people react to it, and how it can be prevented. And most recently we have introduced the ‘Operation 1000 Women’ annual medical camp for mass cervical and breast cancer screening to prevent our women from dying from a disease that is preventable.
